The theme of the Youth in the Georgian regional radio (on the example of the radio “Atinati”)

Abstract

Recently, the Georgian media market is characterized with wide diversity. On top of the traditional media, multiple news agencies and news blogs are actively carrying their activity. Despite of a large number of media outlets, the central (capital-based) media is still dominating. It has a high budget and rating, and against this background regional broadcasters have rather limited financial or human resources needed for their operation.
The local media is able to provide its own auditory with specific, local topics. Comfortable location enables it to report on different interesting events or routine activities carried on-site operatively and with maximal load. The stated is a comfortable instrument of dissemination of news for the auditory being interested in current events or simply residents of a definite region.
Media is characterized with its massive character, consideration of diversified interests of the auditory and forms of expression. Implementation of internet web made obtaining and processing of information immensely fast and comfortable. Proceeding from this, dependence of the society, especially of young people, upon the so-called gadgets, popularizes an opinion, that this part of the society is being separated from the traditional media gradually. The youth represents an extremely interesting, diversified part of the society focused on its constant development. Thus, preservation of the young auditory is very significant for the media, as well as discovering and considering of their interests and aspiration.
Against the background when internal and external migration is high in the country, the media must actively and frequently talk about the problems existing in concrete regions and challenges existing in front of the youth. In searching of the ways of settlement of these problems obtaining of the information field is a beneficial way.


A target of the submitted research is to represent a significance of reporting of the issues being interesting for young people, the problems and challenges they face in their daily life, to discover whether “Atinati” prepares programs and/or rubrics about local young people, the extent of the time spent and whether reporting of the youth’s issues is a priority for the media outlets.
Expressing of the interest by the local media in the youth’s topics, its general activation, its implementation in the state’s agenda, logically, will have an impact in the process of developing of the regional media, obtaining of the auditorial trust and rising of their ratings.
